Shawn's Quirks

Sometimes ministries have a tendency to become too professional and their websites have little or no interesting information about the individuals involved in the ministry.  So I decided to share some random stuff about my life.

Here we go:

Favorite Food - most curry dishes.  I eat curry on average twice a week with my wife.  The best I've ever had has been in England.  I love lots of taste and flavour and there is just so much flavour in Indian dishes like this....I know that curry is powerful or at least scripture supposedly says so.  Genesis 25:29-34 mentions when Esau sold his birth right to his brother Jacob for some 'red stew.' (v.30)  Now, apparently, from what I've heard from a good friend of mine, that particular red stew in that culture would have been red daal, which is an Indian curry dish.  Man....that curry dish must have been soooo good for Esau to just give up his birth right.  I said to my friend, we should open a Curry Restaurant called, "Jacob's Curry house - so good you'll sell your birth right." What do you think, does that sound good?  I have a really wide range of tastes, like Thai, middle eastern foods, Jamaican (love jerk chicken), Italian, Mexican.  I love those Lebanese shawarma's, and all normal canadian food, as long as it has a spicy flavourful kick to it...so pretty much everything...i can't name all of them...just NO BLAND FOOD!!! God made our mouths to experience all forms of taste and flavour....ok moving on now...Oh yeah, I like mangoes a lot too!!! Oh and for the record I'm not really a fried batter food kind of guy...I want to stay healthy long!!!!

Coffee or tea? - I love coffee, but it has to be good coffee.  Instant is definitely not allowed.  I like it made in a French press when it's fresh, or a drip, as long as it's a decent coffee maker...HA HA!!! I'm pretty picky when it comes to coffee, or maybe it's not as bad as it sounds when it actually comes down to it.  For those coffee lovers out there, I love Jamaican Blue Mountain, Hawaiian Kona, and most all of the Starbucks beans. Unfortunately the Blue Mountain and Kona I very rarely have because it's so expensive.  I like tea too, especially the stuff I brought back from England.  It's definitely not weak at all.

Favorite animal - I'm sure everyone cares a lot about this one...but basically my dream animal one day, if my wife let's me have one, is a 'British Bulldog."  I don't know what it is, but I think they're just really amazing dogs.  Maybe Michelle will buy me one some day...I'm praying about this one....come on, who wouldn't want a squishy fat, big cheeked dog that just sits around all day and doesn't do too much????  I also like cats as well - so we will probably end up getting one in the next 5 years.

Favorite things to do - Besides hanging out with JESUS, and in the WORD and being with my beautiful amazing wife and doing the stuff of His kingdom,  I love music and playing drums at prophetic conferences and gatherings...it's so amazing when you can tap into the true creativity that's inside of you in music.  It touches the heart of the Creator...ahhh I love it...so yeah I love music, playing and listening....I like all styles of music, especially the bands that really honour God with their music....I like metal, rock, jazz, latin, some funk, skate punk and experimental, and even some of that emo.  Not the 'I'm depressed' kind of emo, but emo that is driven by the Holy Ghost...some of you may have no idea what I'm talking about...it's ok!   I love the beach and playing beach volleyball as long as the people I'm playing with are good. (very important) Yeah... I really love being on the beach.  It's so heavenly, especially in tropical places....Maybe one day I'll get to go on a really long sabbatical break somewhere tropical.  I love snowboarding so much but don't get to go too much anymore, maybe at least once or twice a year...hopefully I'll get to go more...I recently just started to exercise in the mornings again...and I'm loving it...you have to take care of that temple you know...I like superhero movies, they inspire me...haah!!!! I like going to coffee shops and working on my laptop, drinking lattes, coffee, and having kingdom talks with the peeps.  Why is it that so many ministry related meetings take place at coffee shops?  Is God trying to say something? Imagine what Heaven's coffee bean tastes like...ha! I'm sorry that wasn't theologically correct nowhere in the Bible does it say there is coffee in Heaven, come on now!!! Did I say I like curry? Well I like going out to eat curry at good Indian restaurants...and no I don't think it's wrong to eat at restaurants even though there are weird statue gods everywhere staring at me while I eat...greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world....I like most sports, just not big on soccer....

Favorite Holy Ghost worship artists: Rick Pino, Jason Upton, Ian McIntosh, Kim Walker, Misty Edwards, Kristi Northup, The Glorious Unseen, and lots more I can't remember at the moment.

Why do I have dreadlocks?: Why do you comb your hair to the side?  Why do you have long hair that's died blonde or brown?  Why do you have gel in your hair and slick it back?  Well my answer is probably the same, I like it!!!! I just wanted to try it 6 years ago and decided to keep it.....and no there is no spiritual reason behind my hair...I will cut them eventually...but it's amazing some of the comments that have been spoken to me...hahaha!!! Paul had handkerchiefs I have dreadlocks.  Only some of you get that...read Acts 19:11,12

What am I not a big fan of? - I'm not really into the whole camping thing nor am I a big fan of hiking in the wilderness but that's not to say I don't like the outdoors.  I'm not too excited when it's slushy and wet in the winter and my car has to be washed every week because of the salt.  I'm definitely not a fan of pot holes in the road. It's just something about them that hits me the wrong way, you know what I mean? I think pot holes in the road are God's way of growing the fruit of patience and self-control in our lives.

I'm sure there are some more quirks.  Keep checking back...I may add some more.
